Google Chrome’s Reading List feature debuted on the iPhone and eventually came to the desktop. For some reason, it has taken a while to appear on Android. If you like the feature on your handset, it can be enabled right now.

At the time of writing, Chrome’s Reading List feature is only available on Android through a “flag.” Eventually, it will become a standard feature of the browser, but until then, this is the way to enable it.

How to Enable Chrome’s Reading List on Android

• Chrome v89 – remove Reading List. For Chrome v89, you need to go into the chrome flags. In the URL bar just type chrome://flags. Search for reading list. Change the Reading List option from Default to Disabled. Then click on the Relaunch button and that’s it. The reading list will be disabled and you will no longer see it in the bookmark bar.
• Based on your feedback we have added the ability to show or hide the Reading List to the Bookmark menu, so now you'll be able to hide the Reading list if you'd like to. In order to update your Reading list settings, right click on the Bookmark bar uncheck 'Show Reading List'.
• First, open the Google Chrome app on your Android telephone or pill and sort chrome://flags within the handle bar. Next, sort “Reading List” within the search field on the high of the web page. This will floor a flag with the identical title. Select the drop-down menu for.

With the flag enabled, we can now actually use the feature. First, we’ll cover adding pages to the Reading List. There are two ways to do this.

One method is to simply long-press any link to bring up the contextual menu. Select “Read Later” from the menu and it will be added.

The second method is for when you’re already on the page you want to add. First, tap the three-dot menu icon in the top-right corner.

Now, select the star icon at the top of the menu.

A new menu will slide up from the bottom of the screen. Select “Reading List” to add the page.

To open the Reading List, tap the three-dot menu icon in the top-right corner again. This time, select “Bookmarks.”

Uninstall Reading List

You’ll see “Reading List” at the top of the Bookmarks page, tap it.

The Reading List is organized with unread pages at the top and read pages at the bottom. The unread pages have been downloaded for offline reading.

That’s all there is to it! Again, this is a feature that will eventually be default in the browser, but until then, this is the only way to get it on Android. If you’re already using it elsewhere, it makes sense to skip the wait.

Latest Google Chrome version 89.0 introduced yet another revolutionary feature: a Reading List icon in Bookmarks bar, where you can quickly store your TO DO articles that you wish to read later. Wait… we already have such a feature for decades (drum roll 🎶🎵) – it is called Bookmarks! Why Chrome devs desperately try to reinvent the wheel instead focus on features that really matter is beyond us. By the way, you might also wish to disable Search Tabs feature as well.

As usual, option to disable and hide this (useless) thing (for us) is nowhere to be found in Chrome’s Settings page (chrome://settings in URL format, learn more here). What else is new? Thankfully, there is a hidden flag that you can use instead, but for how long will devs feel generous to provide it for us mere mortals remains to be seen…

How To Hide Reading List Icon in Google Chrome Browser?

1. Start Google Chrome browser
2. Type (or Copy/Paste) chrome://flags into search/address bar (omnibox) + press ENTER key
3. Special page will open. Type Reading List into Search flags box
4. Option about Reading List will be shown – select Disabled from the right drop-down button menu
5. Relaunch Chrome. Reading List is gone!
